November 22, 2018: Johnson Controls has given Aqua Metals official vendor approval to receive finished lead from the lead battery recycling firm, Aqua Metals announced on November 14.
The recycling company said approval had been granted after “a stringent review of Aqua Metals’ lead to consistently meet Johnson Controls specifications”.
“Official vendor approval is a significant milestone and an important step in the relationship between Aqua Metals and Johnson Controls,” said Aqua Metals president Steve Cotton.
Brian Wycklendt, JCI director of lead and recycling strategy, said: “For more than 130 years, we’ve focused on smarter ways to use less energy and resources by using old batteries as the raw materials for new ones.
“Our closed loop system for designing, building, recovering and recycling vehicle batteries has been recognized as one of the world’s most effective examples of a circular economy.
“Our partnership with Aqua Metals and other clean tech partners will help us to fulfill our commitment to creating a more sustainable and environmentally responsible industry.”
