August 1, 2019: Exide Technologies has promoted Lou Martinez to executive vice president and chief financial officer, the firm announced on July 30.
Martinez has been with Exide since 2005, working as chief accounting officer and corporate controller.
He replaces Tony Genito, who the company says is retiring after almost four years in post.
Martinez will report to Tim Vargo, chairman, president and CEO since November 2018.
“Lou has been a key member of our corporate finance team for the past 14 years and I am pleased to announce his well deserved promotion to the CFO role,” Vargo said. “I would also like to thank Tony for his contributions to the company over the past four years and wish him well in his retirement.”
Martinez is the latest in a string of senior appointments, which began with Vargo in November.
In January, Stefan Stübing, who has been at Exide for 35 years, was appointed executive vice president of the EMEA region. In the same month, Brian Woodworth was made senior vice president and chief information officer.
In June, Michael Judd was appointed executive vice president and chief operations officer.
