Hammond releases new expander to reduce water loss in EFBs 150 150 Batteries International

August 1, 2019: International battery additives and specialist chemical company Hammond Group, Inc has launched another series of negative expanders, the AE-EFB, the company announced in late July.

The company says its new product offers numerous industry-proven benefits in enhanced flooded battery applications, including reduced water loss — a common side effect of increasing dynamic charge acceptance and partial state of charge.

“The automobile OEMs continue to set tougher requirements for enhanced flooded batteries to increase battery life and performance,” said Hammond chief technical officer Marvin Ho.

“Reducing water loss while maintaining high charge acceptance has been the challenge. Our researchers have developed additives utilizing new materials to meet these requirements. Enhanced flooded battery research will continue, as we know there are more gains that we can achieve with our products in the near future.”
