April 9, 2021: Battery Council International will hold a ‘2021 BCI State of the Industry’ virtual event on April 22. At the event — which is free to all BCI members — attendees will hear about BCI’s accomplishments and actions over 2020 and receive an update on what’s in store for the organization this year.
The event is not a substitute for the annual convention and power mart expo, which is normally held at the end of April. Because of the problems caused by the pandemic, this has been set back to September 22 and will be held at the San Diego Hilton Bayfront through to September 25.
The virtual session starts at 12pm EST and finishes at 3pm. The opening remarks will be led by Dave Shaffer, the 2020 BCI president and head of EnerSys, followed by a statement from the incoming president, as yet to be elected.
At 12.30 BCI executive vice president Roger Miksad will give a presentation called What’s Happening in North America and around the World: a Global Regulatory and Legislative Update.
Nick Starita, president of the Energy Solutions division at Hollingsworth & Vose, will then present his forecast for industrial batteries followed by a live Q&A.
At 2pm, Ray Kubis, chairman of Gridtential, will give a transportation battery forecast followed by a Q&A.
