January 13, 2022: East Penn Manufacturing in December promoted Norbert Maleschitz, senior vice president of technology and innovation, to the newly created position of chief technology officer.
Maleschitz started his career at Banner Batterien in Austria in 1991. He was appointed its technical director in 2005. He won the International Lead Award in 2012 and joined Exide Technologies as a VP of research and development EMEA the following year. In 2018 he joined East Penn.
In his new position, Maleschitz will oversee the company’s efforts to advance its technology and innovation for its products, processes and manufacturing equipment, East Penn says.
“Maleschitz has been integral to supporting the company’s research, development and engineering strategies — working directly with divisions across the organization to spur new growth and exciting advancements,” the firm says.
“As East Penn continues to innovate, this new position will help the company provide customers with the crucial energy storage solutions they will need.”
In November, East Penn won its seventh consecutive Most Valuable Supplier award, courtesy of the MHEDA (Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association).
East Penn had to meet a series of criteria to win the award, including demonstrating industry and distributor advocacy, business networking, continuing education and business best practices.
“As the only battery manufacturer to achieve this award seven consecutive years, it is truly an amazing accomplishment and only possible through the continued commitment of our employees, our independently owned North American dealer network, and the customers we serve,” said Doug Bouquard, VP/GM of motive power sales.
