August 4, 2022: BESB has heard rumours that Angkor Wat — the most famous temple city in Asia and the heart and soul of Cambodia — could be the destination for 20ABC, scheduled for September next year.
If so, this will be a coup for the organizers of the Asian Battery Conference, rivalling the last in-person event held in Bali, Indonesia, which was deemed the best attended and most successful in the history of the conference series.
Before the arrival of Covid, the conference was to have been held in Kuching in Borneo.
Organisers of the 20ABC said they were not in a position to confirm either the venue or exact dates of the conference, but said there would be some changes as Asia, like the rest of the world, recovers from the pandemic.
For those unfamiliar with Cambodia, Angkor Wat is quite unique and an enduring example of humanity’s devotion to spirituality and quest for the divine.
The temples are a national symbol, the epicentre of Khmer civilisation and a source of fierce national pride.
Let’s hope the whispers are correct.
