November 17, 2022: Sorfin Yoshimura president Scott Fink has told BESB he welcomes a new partnership between MAC Engineering and Inbatec to strengthen the lead battery industry supply chain.
The further rationalization of the battery manufacturing supply chain was announced on October 28, with Michigan-headquartered MAC Engineering saying it would use its distribution strength across North and South America to stock and supply parts for European-based Inbatec’s formation machines in the region.
Fink, who works closely with both companies, said he expects to see more such partnerships. “They make a lot of sense because they are providing the best service they can to the end user and doing it in close enough proximity without significantly increasing cost.
“I was a big proponent for the synergy and we will see more of this in the industry, because it’s a robust supply chain and protects the end user as well.”
Fink said such moves would enhance the reputation of the lead battery industry: “We have been challenged over the last decade to optimize performance of lead batteries for different reasons and applications and doing things more efficiently and cost-effectively also transfers benefits into the supply chain”.
