January 26, 2023: Sovema Group, recently acquired by the Schuler Group, announced in mid-January that it had joined the Upcell Alliance.
The Upcell Alliance, a not-for-profit association, says it aims to create what it calls is a “unique European ecosystem of actors in the equipment and machinery for the battery manufacturing industry.
“By connecting the European battery industry and universities in one platform, it promotes local capacities, people, and skills to the battery manufacturers and boost European innovation in electric battery technology.”
A spokesperson for Sovema said: “we realise that working together is the only chance to lead to the objective of carbon-neutrality in 2050, Europe’s climate-neutral commitment.
“The Upcell Alliance wants battery manufacturers and machine builders to invest in the future of e-mobility in Europe. It wants to contribute to the (re)industrialization of Europe, support society transformation and strengthen domestic sovereignty.
“We truly believe we can make a difference as a player in the new E-mobility challenge.
