July 20, 2023: Mike Moeller has taken up the newly-created position of CEO at US company Remy Battery.
Moeller (pictured), who has been president of the Milwaukee-based family business since 1992, confirmed the structural change in the business to Batteries International on July 14.
Moeller said he had appointed John Peters to succeed him as president.
While he has been involved in the battery industry most his life, after graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater, Moeller cut his teeth in the field working as a salesman for Johnson Controls.
Moeller’s lifelong passion for batteries has seen him become one of the most proficient and knowledgeable battery experts in the industry.
He has been the secretary and treasurer of the North American Battery Electrical Specialist Association since 1999 and a member of Battery Council International’s Data Book Committee.
New president Peters has worked his way up at the company since being hired as a delivery driver in 1989.
He has held senior posts including purchasing manager, director of operations and cyber security coordinator.
Remy was established in 1931 and specializes in predominantly lead batteries, cables, and battery accessories.
Batteries International reported last year that Remy had acquired family-run peer Challenger Battery Service in a deal signed in May.
Moeller said then that the firms had always been friendly competitors, “working together in time of need and respecting each other’s business”.
In July 2022, Remy said it had been awarded ISO 9001:2015 certification.
ISO 9001:2015 is a globally recognized quality management standard developed and published by the ISO Organization.
Remy has two locations in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, one in Wisconsin and Milwaukee, plus the Challenger site.
