October 26, 2023: Lead and lithium battery group GS Yuasa is to supply two battery storage systems for Japanese petroleum group ENEOS, the firms announced on October 19.
Yuasa said it will install a 202MWh lithium ion container-type BESS at ENEOS’ Chiba Refinery and an 88MWh system at the group’s Muroran plant.
The Chiba unit will the largest such facility deployed in Japan to date, according to Yuasa.
Both systems will be used for grid stabilization and energy storage.
In July 2022, Energy Storage Journal reported that the company had supplied a hybrid lead and lithium BESS to support an energy center in Wales for the UK’s official coin maker, the Royal Mint.
Last September, GS Yuasa Battery Europe formally opened its new headquarters in the UK.
