EIT InnoEnergy to launch battery safety course 640 427 Batteries International

April 3, 2024: EU-backed tech developer EIT InnoEnergy is launching a battery safety program designed to help industry professionals navigate increasingly complex technologies.

The Introduction to Battery Safety course, announced by the European Battery Alliance on March 28, will give professionals the knowledge needed to understand the myriad of compliance and safety practices across the battery sector.

According to EIT, which is part of the EBA and an investor in sustainable energy, working with batteries across the value chain introduces a variety of safety risks, such as lithium ion cells being more prone to thermal runaway and causing fires than their lead counterparts.

The new course aims to instil a comprehensive understanding of the risks involved across the battery value chain and is pivotal for those in manufacturing, handling, transportation, storage and disposal of batteries, EIT said.
