April 12, 2024: RECHARGE, the European trade association for advanced batteries, yesterday announced that its director general, Claude Chanson, will be retiring this year as head of the Brussels office.

After 11 years at the organization, Chanson will continue working in the battery sector and will act as an adviser to ensure a smooth transition.

“The batteries sector has become a key element of EU industrial policy, embodied by the decision to create the EU Batteries Alliance and I would like to thank Claude for these achievements,” says Patrick de Metz, chairman of the board.

“Under Chanson’s tenure it has become key in the sector, putting the interests of the industry at the forefront of EU agenda.

“The new director general will have to build on the legacy but also seize the opportunity of the new EU Commission and European Parliament after the elections this June to give fresh impetus and defend the interests of a sector which will be key to delivering the EU’s green agenda.”

RECHARGE, a non-profit organization, advocates for the advanced rechargeable and lithium batteries industry in Europe.
