August 16, 2024: China’s BTR Group announced on August 14 that it was ready to start construction of battery materials plant in Morocco’s Cité Mohammed VI Tanger-Tech (a technology city).
The plant will have an installed capacity of 50,000 tonnes a year.
“The Moroccan project represents a total investment not exceeding $366 million, with the construction expected to take approximately two years,” BTR said.
A financial agreement had been signed with the Moroccan government in March this year.
BTR described the project as a “significant step forward” as part of its international expansion.
