August 21, 2024: Nickel-zinc developer AEsir Technologies is to partner Venta Nico in developing and commercializing cutting-edge NiZn batteries for critical infrastructure, 5G telecoms and EV chargers, the companies said on August 7.

Venta Nico, India’s sole nickel producer, will be the preferred supplier of nickel and its sister company, India’s Hindustan Zinc, will support the partnership.

AEsir sister company Battery Grade Materials will support the production of nickel hydroxide and the recycling of batteries for the nickel zinc technology.

Vedanta Nico COO Prashuk Jain said: “Our expertise in nickel production, coupled with AEsir’s innovative zinc battery technology, positions us to deliver a product that meets the evolving needs of the industry.”

In a separate agreement announced last January, AEsir confirmed that Celgard would be supplying all the separators required for AEsir’s existing requirements and for its planned US gigafactory.
