Ensurge Micropower has appointed battery industry veteran Salil Soman as chief commercial officer as the company looks to accelerate the commercialisation of its solid-state lithium microbattery technology.
Soman, who took up the job on June 23, brings more than 25 years’ experience in advanced battery technologies and joins Ensurge from Feon Energy, where he was vice-president for business development. During his career, he has held senior commercial and engineering roles spanning lithium-ion, solid-state, sodium-ion and nickel-zinc battery technologies, working with OEMs, battery manufacturers and materials suppliers to bring next-generation battery technologies to market.
At Ensurge, he will lead the company’s commercial strategy, with responsibility for expanding customer relationships, developing strategic partnerships and accelerating the adoption of its solid-state microbattery platform across high-value applications, including wearable devices, medical technology, industrial systems and defence.
Chief executive Shauna McIntyre said: “Solid-state batteries are at an inflection point, and having the right commercial leadership in place is critical to capturing the opportunity ahead of Ensurge. Salil has spent his career translating breakthrough battery technologies into real market traction, and I am confident he will do the same for Ensurge.”
Ensurge continues to focus on commercialising its ultra-thin solid-state microbattery technology, following a broader strategy announced earlier this year to strengthen its leadership team and accelerate customer engagement.
Ensurge develops ultra-thin solid-state lithium microbatteries for applications including wearables, medical devices, industrial systems and defence. The company has been focused on accelerating the commercialisation of its technology as demand grows for compact, high-energy-density power sources.
