August 12, 2021: Indian power company Luminous Technologies on August 1 won the India Green Manufacturing Challenge Gold Award for the first time in the company’s history.

“This award has been given for carbon footprint reduction, Go Green, sustainable manufacturing, automation and EHS practice,” the firm said.

Awarded by the International Research Institute for Manufacturing, the award is designed to ‘recognize manufacturing firms that have shown consistent progress in improving sustainability factors associated with a manufacturing facility’.

Luminous, which sells its products in 36 countries, makes a range of electrical goods, including lead battery car and UPS batteries, inverters, solar panels and solar+storage systems, and home appliances.

It was founded in 1988. It is now wholly owned by French engineering group Schneider Electric.
