January 4, 2024: Narada Power will mark 30 years in business this year by ramping up global sales of its lead and lithium energy storage systems, the firm’s chairman and president has said.
Zhu Baoyi (pictured) said on December 1 that Narada’s production base in Anhui province now has an annual production capacity of 3GWh of ESS lithium batteries — while the firm can also process around 1.2 million tonnes of used lead storage batteries and 70,000 tonnes of used lithium batteries annually.
Narada has increased its focus on the development and application of energy storage technology and products for a range of industrial and civil uses based on lithium and lead batteries over the past decade, Zhu said.
He said the company is also working on the large-scale upgrading of lithium ion battery recycling capacity in Anhui, but he did not disclose details.
Meanwhile, Zhu claimed cumulative shipments of Narada’s ESS products to date have exceeded 50GWh, with projects in more than 160 countries and regions.
Narada said last August that while it was developing a range of lithium-based BESS projects, it was committed to expanding recycling of lead batteries as part of its corporate social responsibility commitments.
In December, Energy Storage Journal reported that Narada was one of two Chinese companies that had signed an agreement to develop the first BESS for Namibia.
