December 30, 2021: Greek lead-acid and lithium-ion battery maker Sunlight Group has launched a real-time battery management system that it says will help people transition away from using lead-acid batteries in motive power applications and towards using lithium.
Launching the system, KnoWi, on December 16, the firm says it offers a range of features, including constant remote monitoring, live alarms, data collection and machine-learning tools that recommend upgrades to lithium batteries based on their profiles.
“Sunlight makes lithium batteries too but is technology agnostic in its approach,” said a spokesperson for the company. “We understand that power storage requirements are changing, and the lithium recommendations are optional.”
“In an industry first, Sunlight’s BMS device offers WiFi and GSM (the standard for Global Systems for Mobile Communications) connectivity to ensure constant monitoring and recording of real-time performance data that maximizes efficiency, and does so without extra equipment, such as hubs or gateways,” the firm says.
“We are excited to offer the market a smart product that renders batteries even smarter,” said marketing director Ioanna Gavrielatou. “KnoWi will empower our customers to make informed choices about their power solutions.
“Our commitment to improving product efficiency and quality is at the heart of our lithium-focused R&D activity and such products reflect our transformation into a fully technology-agnostic company.”
