November 2, 2017: The Sally Breidegam Miksiewicz Center for Health Sciences at Moravian College in Pennsylvania was officially opened towards the end of September.
The centre — which is home to nursing, public health, informatics and undergraduate health services — is named after the former chief executive and vice chair of East Penn who died in 2014.
Sally’s mother Helen Breidegam, wife of DeLight Breidegam, the founder of East Penn who died in 2015, opened the $23 million centre which was raised from voluntary subscriptions. Some 500 guests attended.
Before her death, Miksiewicz hoped to surprise her mother by naming the health sciences building after her. Instead, her parents decided the building would bear Miksiewicz’s name.
The Breidegam family have long connections with the college and have been a major donor.
