October 11, 2023: The new headquarters of GS Yuasa Battery Europe has been formally opened in the UK by the Japan-based group’s president.
Osamu Murao cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony for the facility at Ignition Park in Swindon on September 18.
GS Yuasa Battery Europe is moving to the 178,500 ft2 (16,580m3) facility from the group’s factory in Wales.
The company oversees the group’s six European companies and Yuasa said the move will strengthen finance, supply chain and IT operations across the continent in support of the group’s ambitions to increase its market share in all markets and regions.
The site will also be the sales and distribution centre for GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK.
GS Yuasa broke ground at the site of the facility in March 2022.
Last July, Energy Storage Journal reported that the company had supplied a hybrid lead and lithium BESS to support an energy center in Wales for the UK’s official coin maker, the Royal Mint.
GS Yuasa has been a leading pioneer in developing the technology for such hybrids.
