May 24, 2024: Sunlight Group CEO, Lampros Bisalas, joined top European industry leaders for talks with French president Emmanuel Macron at a major investment summit in Paris on May 15.
Bisalas said he had been personally invited by Macron to attend the seventh annual ‘Choose France’ summit at Versailles.
The head of the Greece-based lead and lithium battery manufacturing group said he outlined Sunlight’s European investment plans during a roundtable discussion with other CEOs.
Bisalas said Sunlight was the first Greek-headquartered company ever to be invited to the summit — which brings together leaders from the largest multinational corporations to promote France’s economic attractiveness and encourage international investment across the country.
“I had the opportunity to present to the president and government ministers our substantial investment plans in the energy storage for renewables sector and for lithium ion cells manufacturing in Europe, as well as plans to expand our existing and successful sales and service business in France,” Bisalas said.
Batteries International reported last February that Sunlight had appointed a former governor of Greece’s EU-backed Recovery and Resilience Facility, Nikos Mantzoufas, as chief funding and institutional affairs officer for construction of a lithium ion cells gigafactory project in Greece.
Earlier this month, Sunlight reported a third year of record operational and financial performance in annual results for 2023.
