June 5, 2025: India-based lead battery refurbishment tech specialist ReStore said on May 20 it is to expand into the African market.

The company specializes in rejuvenating lead acid batteries using its proprietary EBEP (electro-chemical battery enhancement process) technology, which it claims can extend a battery’s lifespan by one to two years.

By extending the lifespan of batteries that may otherwise be discarded, this reduces energy costs, minimizes e-waste and enhances access to reliable power solutions, the firm said.
ReStore, which has already established more than 500 franchise outlets in India, said energy reliability remains a critical issue in many African countries, with businesses and households depending on batteries for backup power and renewable energy storage.

However, the cost of new batteries presents a financial burden. ReStore said its entry into the African market provides a sustainable solution by extending battery life, offering cost savings and making energy storage more accessible.

“Our mission is to make battery rejuvenation technology accessible to entrepreneurs in Africa,” said Irfan Ahmed, ReStore’s CEO for the EMEA region.

“By introducing a sustainable and profitable business model, we aim to redefine the market and train the micro and small entrepreneurs on our EBEP technology.”
