October 17, 2025: Sungrow and ENGIE said on September 30 the first 400MWh of a 200MW/800 MWh BESS facility had been connected to the grid in Belgium.

The announcement came just over a year after Sungrow’s innovative PowerTitan liquid-cooled system was announced as the battery tech provider.

Sungrow, a PV inverter and energy storage system provider, is supplying 320 PowerTitan units for the facility, one of Europe’s largest, at Vilvoorde.

The second and final phase of the project is set for grid connection by the end of this year and will enhance grid stability and provide clean energy for up to 96,000 homes.

International energy company ENGIE said the liquid-cooled technology ensures a longer battery life and a maximum battery temperature difference of up to 2.5°C.”

PowerTitan also saves 50% of on-site installation time, said Sungrow. Moreover, due to its back-to-back installation scheme, the small footprint makes the system especially efficient for large ESS plants.
