January 23, 2026: Exide Industries said on January 12 it had appointed Indranil Chatterjee as executive VP and head of operations.
Chatterjee, who has more than 30 years of industry experience, was most recently MD and CEO of Exide subsidiary Chloride Metals — where Exide said he led a significant scaling up of recycling operations.
He also oversaw implementation of several innovations including producer gas systems, integrated battery breaking units and plastic recycling facilities.
Under his stewardship, the business has evolved into a best-in-class supplier of lead, lead alloys, and recycled plastics, Exide said.
Earlier in his career, Chatterjee held key roles at companies including Eveready Industries and Aditya Birla, before joining Exide in 2014 as head of the two-wheeler battery manufacturing plant in Haryana.
He subsequently led the Shyamnagar manufacturing unit in West Bengal and later was chief of industrial manufacturing, with overall responsibility for three major manufacturing sites.
Batteries International reported in August 2023 that Chloride Metals had launched commercial production of its fourth lead battery recycling plant in India.
The plant — built on a greenfield site spanning more than 15 acres on the Supa-Parner Industrial Park in Maharashtra — had an initial 96,000 million tonnes per annum capacity rising to 120,000 mtpa.
