November 7, 2025: Original equipment manufacturers are increasingly turning to EFB battery tech to meet the power needs of modern vehicles, according to latest analysis by Stryten Energy.

The multi-chemistry company said on October 28 that, as vehicle technology evolves, so does the power demand on automotive batteries.

More than 50% of new cars sold in the US are equipped with start-stop or hybrid systems, and OEMs are responding by integrating EFBs into their designs, Stryten said.

The market for OE EFBs is forecast to double by 2030, reflecting growing confidence in the technology’s ability to meet modern performance standards.

AGM batteries have long been accepted by OEMs as the preferred battery option to handle increased power needs of today’s vehicles. However, Stryten said with the availability of EFBs, there is now another option designed to support the technological demands of modern vehicles.

Today, many new start-stop and hybrid vehicles sold in the US come equipped with an EFB, and that number continues to grow. EFBs are designed deliver robust performance with excellent battery life and charge acceptance, and superior heat tolerance and affordability.

Independent third-party research conducted by Stryten in 2022, to evaluate the performance of EFBs against conventional flooded batteries, found that EFBs outperformed conventional flooded batteries in several critical categories such as warranty and battery life, cyclability and charge acceptance.

Last May, Stryten won the 2025 BCI Amplify Award for Product Marketing for its innovative video campaign promoting EFBs.
