March 6, 2025: Greenvolt Power and BYD Energy Storage have agreed plans to develop up to 1.6 GWh of BESS projects in Poland.

Greenvolt said on March 3 the agreement with the Chinese battery storage giant covers two projects already under construction — Turośń Kościelna (200MW/800MWh) and Nowa Wieś Ełcka (200MW/800MWh) — which are to be completed in the first quarter of next year.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the firms said both projects have already secured capacity market contracts and are scheduled to start deliveries in 2028.

The first phase of the contract has started and involves the construction of power substation infrastructure.

Greenvolt Group CEO João Manso Neto said the deal was its largest to date in Europe in terms of BESS capacity and underscored its plans to strengthen its presence on the continent and in other markets. The group already has a total pipeline capacity of 2.6 GW.

Greenvolt has a longstanding presence in Poland, with nearly 18 years in the utility-scale sector through what is now Greenvolt Power, overseeing the development of wind, solar and energy storage projects.

Last year, the group launched Greenvolt Next Polska, which the firm said is driving decentralized renewable energy solutions for self-consumption, energy efficiency, solar storage, and electric mobility in the B2B market.
