March 12, 2026: GS Yuasa is launching the Japan-based group’s first AGM commercial vehicle battery across Europe.

Yuasa said on March 4 the new ‘super heavy duty’ YBX9625 strengthens and expands its YBX CV range, while introducing advanced AGM tech to the commercial vehicle market — marking a major step forward in power capability, durability and fleet coverage.

The new product, being rolled out from the first quarter of this year, is designed to meet the rapidly increasing electrical demands of modern HGVs, buses, coaches and specialist vehicles, Yuasa said.

The YBX9625 has exceptional endurance, superior charge acceptance and rapid recharge capability, Yuasa said. The battery boasts sealed, maintenance-free construction, extreme vibration resistance and outstanding cycle life, delivering up to 4x more cycles than typical EFB batteries, the manufacturer claimed.

Yuasa batteries are fitted as original equipment by leading manufacturers including Mercedes-Benz and Toyota.
Peter Whittaker, automotive product manager at GS Yuasa Battery Europe, said: “We already have one of the strongest and most comprehensive commercial vehicle battery ranges on the market, so adding our first CV AGM product is a tremendous benefit for our customers.

“Expanding the lineup with this new technology strengthens our coverage even further and enables distributors and workshops to support an even wider variety of vehicles and applications.”

Batteries International reported in Februry that the lead and lithium giant planned to expand traction battery operations and its distribution network across European markets.
