Leclanché in fresh bid to delay annual report as funding talks continue

Swiss energy storage group Leclanché is asking regulators for another extended deadline for publication of its annual results — saying it was not yet able to show its ability to operate as a going concern through at least June 2027.

The troubled company said on August 3 it had filed the latest request with SIX Exchange Regulation (SER), which regulates and monitors exchange participants and issuers on the Swiss Stock Exchange.

The application came just weeks after Leclanché secured a temporary exemption from publishing its 2025 annual report — originally due by July 31. Six said on June 1 it was temporarily suspending shares trading in Leclanché until the report was released.

In its latest request to SER, Leclanché said discussions with a new strategic partner about potential additional funding and support to reinforce its going concern assessment through to June 2027 were taking longer than expected.

SER had yet to announce its decision as of August 3.

Batteries International reported in June 2025 that Leclanché was pushing ahead with efforts “to achieve and maintain a positive equity position” and to demonstrate the firm’s ability to continue as a going concern through at least June 2026.

The company had said previously that it was in a situation of negative equity as of the end of 2024.

Leclanché appointed Jens Emrich as CFO effective March 1 this year. Emrich was most recently a senior executive at Li-Cycle Europe — part of the troubled lithium ion battery recycling group that was acquired by mining giant Glencore in 2025.

The appointment was announced five days after Leclanché said it had concluded a financing arrangement with strategic partners in the amount of CHF 16.7 million ($22 million) to support its near-term operational requirements.
