January 19, 2026: Swiss energy storage group Leclanché has announced the restart of its M3 battery tech production facility after production was halted by a fire last November.

Fire broke out on the M3 module assembly line in Yverdon-les Bains during end-of-line testing on November 25. The fire affected a single battery module and no one was injured as a result of the incident.

Leclanché announced the facility’s restart on January 5, saying modules had been produced successfully following a couple of weeks of testing and validation.

None of the assembly process steps have been modified or degraded, so we maintain full product compliance, the company said.

Production is being gradually ramped up and full capacity is expected to be restored once unspecified, new equipment has been installed.

The supply disruption to clients following the incident has been minimal, and with the restart of module production, we will be able to maintain the supply of goods to our customers, including battery pack assembly in Germany, Leclanché said.

The company has said previously that M3 has a production capacity of more than 250MWh annually. M3 modules include a battery management system with functionally safe slave units that can take up to 24 cell measurements. The slave units run the diagnostics and communicate to the master BMS to ensure optimum safety and comprehensive monitoring.
