April 23, 2026: European lead battery major Monbat has acquired an undisclosed majority stake in UK-based power solutions specialist Alpha House.
Monbat said the deal, announced on April 9, builds on a five-year exclusive supply partnership and aims to strengthen the battery supply chain and boost sales and services.
Bulgaria-headquartered Monbat said the deal also underlines its long-term commitment to the UK market — seen as a major driver of business growth for services combined with its batteries including VRLA industrial AGMs, its ‘UPM range’ of high-rate UPS systems, and high cycling carbon batteries.
The acquisition is a direct result of the exceptional growth and operational excellence Alpha House has demonstrated — most recently with the award of a major telecoms contract, Monbat said.
Monbat CEO Victor Spiriev and Alpha House CEO Meryl Bagguley said in a joint statement: “We aim to get closer to our customers with greater control over supply chain resilience, improved coordination in an uncertain global business environment, and a platform to enhance service levels, improve responsiveness and enable greater delivery flexibility.”
Last month, Monbat posted record consolidated sales revenue of BGN403 million ($206 million) and increased net profit for 2025.
The group said consolidated sales revenue was up by nearly 5% over 2024 and net profit rose by 13% to BGN5.6 million — an increase of 12.7% compared to the previous year.
