May 6, 2022: Bipolar battery firm Advanced Battery Concepts (ABC) was presented with Battery Council International’s (BCI) 2022 innovation award in a ceremony in Florida on May 2.
ABC chairman Dave Barrie (pictured) received the award at BCI’s annual convention, in recognition of the company’s Home Emergency Energy Storage System (HEES), which builds on the strength of ABC’s GreenSeal bipolar lead acid battery technology.
HEES is a scalable system that provides energy security for homeowners and small commercial operations when the grid fails. The system can also be coupled with solar installations.
Barrie said ABC was “proud to have commercialized the very first bipolar battery incorporated into our HEES system, which we believe represents a significant milestone in the evolution of the lead battery”.
In the presentation of this year’s award, honorable mentions went to Hollingsworth & Vose and Daramic for their submissions.
The innovation award was established to honor industry thought leader and former East Penn Manufacturing CEO, Sally Breidegam Miksiewicz. BCI has since sought to seek out and acknowledge those firms at the cutting edge of technology and creativity.
