March 20, 2025: Expert analysis of international challenges facing the lead battery industry will be on the agenda at the upcoming Pb2025 conference in Amsterdam.
Organizers the International Lead Association said in an update issued on March 17 that the impact of market and political trends will be in focus at the event, from June 25-27.
There will be keynote presentations from KPMG and the CRU Group, with intelligence and data on lead markets and the outlook for lead batteries.
Amid changes in global markets and the impact of trade tensions, speakers analyzing the outlook for the industry will include Christian Rosenkranz, Clarios’ VP for industry and governmental relations in the EMEA region, on automotive batteries.
Norbert Maleschitz, EVP and chief operations officer at East Penn Manufacturing will consider energy storage opportunities and challenges for the sector.
Meanwhile, CHR Metals’ Huw Roberts will outline the impact of a potential lead surplus in China and give an update on the Chinese market.
The first day of the conference will feature a detailed update on regulatory and policy changes in Europe and North America.
Susan Bernard, Battery Council International’s VP for government relations and sustainability, will discuss the regulatory picture from the US while developments in China will be outlined by Jianbin Ming, director of economics and environment at the International Lead and Zinc Study Group.
Ahead of the two-day conference programme, the workplace lead exposure management workshop will be an opportunity to hear the latest information on environmental, health and safety issues.
The Consortium for Battery Innovation will assess future market opportunities for lead batteries, focusing on their role in supporting EVs through auxiliary systems and their potential in utility and energy storage.
