May 29, 2025: The China-based Camel Group said on May 15 it was pioneering a network of official start-stop distributors to combat inferior battery replacements during servicing.
Camel has launched what it described as ‘official brand flagship stores’ in major Chinese cities under its DF line, after reports that motorists had discovered the unauthorized replacement of start-stop batteries with conventional standard ones during maintenance.
The incidents highlight critical issues in automotive servicing, Camel said. Vehicle maintenance not only affects driving experience but also impacts safety.
The DF brand now has over 100 stores across more than 30 cities to boost its premium battery supply chain and increase professional support for motorists.
“Being ‘neighbourhood battery stewards’ in urban commercial districts, residential areas, and auto parts markets, these stores provide efficient services including on-the-go replacements, instant diagnostics, and quick maintenance for both drivers and local repair shops during battery emergencies,” Camel said.
The company recently launched its DF MAX-AGM series, which it claims features three core technological advancements, including incorporating novel carbon materials providing rapid power recovery during frequent start-stop operations.
Camel said enhanced casting and stamping reinforces the plate structure and has improved high-temperature resistance, extending battery service life.
Meanwhile, its proprietary design and electrolyte formulation reduces water consumption while providing shock resistance and explosion-proof capabilities.
Last February, Batteries International revealed that Camel’s US subsidiary was suing the US government after being blacklisted over allegations of using forced labour.
Camel launched legal action in the US Court of International Trade against the Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies and individuals involved for “arbitrary and capricious actions”.
