July 12, 2024: Crown Battery announced in July it plans to expand its Ohio-based factory in the US  by making “a multi-million-dollar investment” in a new automated plant.

Construction of the expansion is to begin on August 1.

Crown would not confirm the size of the investment but said the expansion would add an additional 55,870 sq ft of space bringing its total facility to 312,000 sq ft.

The construction is being made through Ohio firms Telamon Construction.

“The primary function of this expansion is to facilitate automation and increase production capacity while providing efficient storage and handling of inbound and outbound materials,” said a Crown spokesperson.

Since 1926, Crown Battery has been a leading producer of 99%-recycled batteries, engineered and manufactured at their certified plant in Freemont.

“This multimillion-dollar investment in our future ensures we can continue to provide the highest-quality commercial and industrial batteries,” the company said.

Crown products power over 100 markets on six continents, including electric vehicles, trains, schools, hospitals, businesses, warehouses, microgrid cities and homes.

Their innovations include 3D design and prototyping along with high-efficiency robotic welding for reliability and safety.

Following the announcement on their LinkedIn page, the company received several posts of congratulations from firms thanking them for their investment in Ohio, with a show of support from other industry professionals.
