March 31, 2026: Lead battery giant Leoch International has further revised its schedule to formally establish its proposed US spin-off company.

Chairman Dong Li said in an update on March 30 that dealing in Leoch Energy shares is now expected to start on May 29 (New York time) — instead of March 3, as announced in February.

Distribution of Leoch Energy shares is also expected to start on May 29.

Dong Li said in the latest update to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that more time is needed to complete the procedures of approvals from the relevant US authorities, as well as to prepare updated financial information for review in the US.

However, Leoch has pointed out that in addition to requiring the various US approvals, a final decision on the spin-off will also be required from the battery giant’s board, the board of the spin-off itself — and market conditions will also be taken into account.

Batteries International reported last December that Leoch then expected the US unit would have a new plant in place in 2027 which, by the end of 2028, would support a ramping up of capacity to meet the “vast majority” of demand.

Earlier this month, Leoch International issued a profit warning, saying the group faced an expected loss of around Rmb300 million ($44 million) for 2025 — driven in part by increased export costs to the US.
